They now run trains over a three mile stretch including crossing the river Avon. The volunteers host special events such as Santa Specials, Thomas the Tank Engine days, murder mysteries and Grandparents days.

The station was opened on 4 August 1869, however was shut due to the Beeching cuts, closing to freight trains on 5 July 1965, and to passengers on 7 March 1966. [1]

This railway is a fantastic experience for both children and adults. It is a true blast from the past, taking you back in time to when steam trains were the primary mode of transport. Web358 was then put up for disposal in the early 1990's and was purchased by the Bitton Railway Company on the 7th October 1993. Initially the loco was stored at Long Marston, alongside numerous of the organisations coaches, but was moved to Bitton in 2001 for full restoration to be carried out.
