If you're not increasing the internal volume of the runners or plenum, you're not really getting anything.

I don't believe it's worth the expense to have the manifold professionally ported however the last time I had my intake off I spent a little time port matching the intake runners to the head. The Felpro gasket matched the head's ports but there was a considerable difference between the gasket and the intake.
